How long does the course take?
All personal finance courses that Essential Knowledge offers are good for 60 days. These are self paced, so you can spend as much time as you need in the lessons. The time needed for a student to complete the course varies, but the average is approximately 10 hours.
What if I am not good at math?
These are not math classes. In fact, we provide calculators as part of the course!
Do I need to gather my personal statements before I begin?
No, the course is completely self-contained. As you progress, you will be prompted for any information that you would want to include. You can choose at that time to estimate, or to locate exact numbers from your personal documents. The most important part of the course is learning how to manage your money.
What if I don't have speakers on my computer?
You can progress through the course, without using any audio and still have the same experience. You can read the lessons and use the eBooks as your tools instead of listening to the lectures/ videos.
What reading level is the course?
We structured the course at an eighth grade reading level. However, that doesn't mean it is dumbed down. You will find the delivery of information engaging, yet simple to grasp and to use.
When will I find out what my final grade is on the certificate course?
You will see your final grade on the certificate course immediately following the comprehensive exam.
Will I get a certificate for this course?
Yes, you can request a certificate upon completing the final exam with a passing grade.
Is my information secure?
Please take a look at the Overview section entitled "Safe and Secure". Essential Knowledge has gone above and beyond to ensure your security through thawte, PCI compliance and other systems.
Is the course effective outside of the United States?
The course is delivered online, so it can be used anywhere. However, the financial education is specific to the United States. For example, the course discusses things like a 401k, which may not apply in your area.
How much personal information does Essential Knowledge retain?
The only information that we retain, is relevant to your login information. Any numbers you input into the personal finance calculators disappears when you log off. As a financial education company, your privacy is very important to us.
